Citizen Corps Councils and partners and American Red Cross volunteers were commended by Secretary Napolitano in a speech on preparedness Tuesday, September 29th, via a live webcast. The Secretary was joined by FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate and American Red Cross President and CEO Gail McGovern.
Secretary Napolitano spoke of the Citizen Corps "model" of preparedness and praised Citizen Corps efforts to involve all citizens in preparedness. The press conference marked the end of a successful National Preparedness Month, and the Secretary thanked the Ready Campaign, Citizen Corps partners, and the thousands of others in the National Preparedness Month Coalition for all their hard work.
The Secretary reiterated that preparedness is a shared responsibility, and urged Americans to ask "What's our plan?" wherever you are and whomever you're with, so the citizenry can learn and discuss preparedness plans and be ready at all times.
